NY Review of SF Readings
27th Season
presents
Sunny Moraine
Cassandra Khaw

Tuesday, January 9th 7:00 PM
The Brooklyn Commons
(address, map, and links below)

We're keeping our New Year's resolution to bring you the best by starting out with two people who have been expanding genre literature to its very best limits. Brooke Bolander was originally slated to appear but she has had to postpone due to flu season.  But we have a wonderful fill-in all the way from Malaysia!  (Well, New York right now.)

Cassandra KhawCassandra Khaw writes horror, press releases, video games, articles about video games, and tabletop RPGs. These are not necessarily unrelated items. Her work can be found in professional short story magazines such as ClarkesworldFireside FictionUncanny, and Shimmer. Cassandra’s first original novella, Hammers on Bone, came out in October 2016 from Tor.com. To her mild surprise, people seem to enjoy it. She occasionally spends time in a Muay Thai gym punching people and pads.

Her novel, The Food of the Gods, earned a rave review in the NY Times from N. K. Jemisin.

Sunny MoraineSunny Moraine’s short fiction has appeared in Tor.com, Strange Horizons, Nightmare, and Lightspeed, among other places. They are also responsible for the Root Code and Casting the Bones trilogies and their debut short fiction collection Singing With All My Skin and Bone is available from Undertow Publications. In addition, they are the creator, writer, and narrator of the Gone podcast, a serial horror-drama. They live just outside Washington, DC, in a creepy house with two cats and a very long-suffering husband.

The New York Review of Science Fiction Reading Series provides performances from some of the best writers in science fiction, fantasy, speculative fiction, etc.  The series usually takes place the first Tuesday of every month, but maintains flexibility in time and space, so be sure to stay in touch through the mailing list, the Web, and Facebook.

The Cafe has excellent food, a coffee bar, beer and wine.  The Jenna freebie table will offer books and goodies, as will the raffle for any who donate.
